    Here are three simple mthods to speed up your pc
    one  is time taken (without any software),
    second one is using the turbo mode ( one of the features of the TuneUp Utilities)

1.
    *Close the unwantd applications and processes running in th background from the task manager
    like
    DWM (dynamic windows manager only in vista/seven)  
    antivirus / intrnet security   
   
   *If possible close the explorer process also if the required task is indpendent of the explorer
